Junior Club Championships Event 2

Our Junior Club Championships give Matchpoint players the chance to compete, learn and build confidence in a positive club environment.

From first-time competitors to more experienced juniors, players can expect plenty of quality match play, support from our coaching team and a strong focus on sportsmanship.

Players will get to:

Play multiple matches
Practise scoring and match routines
Build confidence under pressure
Learn tennis etiquette and sportsmanship
Compete in a positive club environment

Our Club Championships pathway

The Junior Club Championships are open to Matchpoint junior players from Red through to Yellow Ball, with players placed into suitable divisions based on stage and level.

Red Ball

Perfect for younger players learning to serve, rally, score and play short-court matches.

Orange Ball

Great for players developing stronger rally skills, court positioning and match confidence.

Green Ball

Ideal for players starting to compete on a larger court and build more tactical awareness.

Yellow Ball

For older or more experienced juniors ready to compete in full-court match play.

Division times & playing formats

Here's what players and families can expect on Sunday 15 November 2026 at Matchpoint North Lakes. Age ranges are a guide; your child's coaching stage and playing level determine the most suitable division.

Approx. 5–8 years

Red Ball

8:00am–10:30am

For players participating in Red Ball coaching sessions or private lessons. All Red Ball playing levels are welcome.

Format: Players take part in a series of fun games and activities to earn points. The highest point scorers then play mini tie-breaks to decide the winners.

Approx. 8–10 years

Orange Ball

10:45am–1:45pm

For players participating in Orange Ball coaching sessions or private lessons. Boys and girls compete together.

Serving rules: First serve must be overarm. On the second serve, players may choose overarm or underarm.

Format: Matches are first to 4 games, with short deuce.

Approx. 10–12 years

Green Ball

1:45pm–4:45pm

For players participating in Green Ball coaching sessions or private lessons. Boys and girls compete together.

Serving rules: Both first and second serves must be overarm.

Format: Matches are first to 4 games, with short deuce.

12/U and 16/U events

Yellow Ball

From 3:30pm until late

For players in Advanced Green Ball, Yellow Ball, squads or private lessons.

Divisions: 12 & Under Boys & Girls Combined; 16 & Under Boys; and 16 & Under Girls.

Format: Staggered draw. Matches are first to 6 games, with short deuce. Match start times will vary by draw.

Eligibility: Players must be enrolled in a Matchpoint Term 4 or Semester 2 program. Places in each division are limited. Unsure which division suits your child? Please check with their coach or contact our Pro Shop on 0422 859 565.

Get ready for your Club Championships day

Whether it's your child's first ever competition or they're starting to feel at home in match play, a little preparation helps everyone enjoy the day.

What to bring

Your tennis racquet and comfortable tennis clothing and shoes
A full water bottle (and extra water for warm weather)
A hat and sunscreen for sun protection
A small snack to keep energy levels up between matches
A towel and a positive attitude!

What to expect

A friendly, supportive atmosphere with the Matchpoint coaching team
Fun points and activities for Red Ball players, and match play for older divisions
Opportunities to practise serving, scoring, court etiquette and sportsmanship
A chance to meet other players, try something new and enjoy being part of the club
Some nerves are completely normal, especially for first-time competitors

It's about the experience, not just the result

Our Junior Club Championships aren't just about winning or losing. They're about giving every player a chance to experience real tennis match play in an encouraging environment, learn how matches work and grow the confidence to compete again.

Trying a first serve, remembering the score, showing good sportsmanship and finding the courage to step on court are all achievements worth celebrating. We hope every player leaves feeling proud of having a go, no matter what the scoreboard says.

Match play gives young players valuable experience with decision-making, resilience, scoring and match routines in real situations.

Our next Matchpoint Junior Club Championships event will be held on Sunday 15 November 2026.

Bookings are now open for Sunday 15 November 2026. Red Ball runs 8:00am–10:30am, Orange Ball 10:45am–1:45pm, Green Ball 1:45pm–4:45pm, and Yellow Ball begins at 3:30pm with staggered draws into the evening. Please refer to ClassHub for your division and booking details.

Keep the date free. The November event will be another chance for players to test their skills, build match confidence and enjoy competing with the Matchpoint community.
